Ken Wright Cellars Freedom Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir, Coast Range, OR '23

The 2023 Ken Wright Freedom Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir is a rich and complex wine, showcasing flavors of black cherry, smoke, earth, and chocolate with a smooth, long finish. The aroma blends savory, floral, and spice notes with hints of passionfruit, cherry, raspberry, cedar, and sandalwood. On the palate, it offers juicy black raspberry and Bing cherry flavors, with a touch of cinnamon and bright acidity supported by silky tannins. Located in the foothills of the Willamette Valley's Coast Range, the vineyard’s well-drained silty clay loam and southwest-facing exposure at an elevation of 475’ provide an ideal environment for the vines, initially planted in 1982 and replenished in 1993 and 2008. This 100% Pinot Noir is hand-sorted, fermented in small vats, and aged in French oak barrels for about a year. The wine has a lovely balance of acidity and minerality, with fresh earth and floral notes that reflect the unique terroir.
