Chalmers Montevecchio Rosso (Australia) '21

Montevecchio Rosso is a field blend made from a collection of loveable, red Italian varieties. It is estate grown, hand-picked, co-fermented, wild yeast, basket pressed & vegan friendly. The 2021 vintage was almost the perfect growing season, with no heat spikes, even ripening, and lovely complex developed flavors while retaining lovely freshness and poise. The wine has lifted fragrant cherry and forest fruits, a pulpy fleshy feel to the mouth, juicy and fresh with just enough savoury interest to balance out the gentle and fine structure. The aromatics of the six Italian varieties imported by Chalmers combine red and black fruits -- pomegranate, riberry, and black cherry -- with savory qualities of pepper berry, licorice, and bay leaf. Dry and crunchy, drinkable and complex.
