Fresh, perfumed red fruit aroma on the nose. The mouth is silky with plenty of supple tannins. Muddled, savory raspberries, and firm acid, while deep black cherries and nutmeg carry you to lingering wet clay minerals at the end. This easy-drinking Gamay is fine on its own or paired with a nice medium-rare steak. Clos Roussely has a history stretching back over 100 years. At the heart of Clos Roussely's 8 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc, you will find 40-year-old Gamay vines thriving off of dense clay, limestone, and slightly flinty soils. The terror here is largely responsible for the beautiful mineral expressions found in your glass. Vincent Roussely - the estate founders' grandson - carries on the winemaking tradition with old-school methodology. The Gamay is grown organically and then hand-harvested before going through a slow, natural fermentation in neutral oak in the underground cellars connected to the estate. A portion of the grapes are left whole and undergo carbonic maceration.
